Most happy customers would leave a review if it took ten seconds. A QR code that opens your Google review form directly removes the searching, the tapping around, and the "I'll do it later." Here's how to set one up for free.
Step 1: Get your Google review link
Google gives every business with a Google Business Profile a short link that opens the "write a review" box directly.
- Sign in to the Google account that manages your business.
- Search for your business name on Google, or open your profile in Google Maps. Your Business Profile tools appear at the top of the results.
- Click Ask for reviews (sometimes labelled Get more reviews).
- Copy the link. It usually looks like
https://g.page/r/…/review.
Open the link on your phone before going further. You should land on your business with the star rating box ready to tap.
Step 2: Turn the link into a QR code
- Open the QRforLess generator and paste your review link.
- Pick Dynamic if you're printing a lot of cards or signs. If your link ever changes, you can update where the code points without reprinting, and you'll see how many people scanned it.
- Add your logo and brand color if you like. Keep the dots dark on a light background.
- Download SVG for print, PNG for screens and email.
- Scan it with two different phones before you print.
Where to put it
- Counter or checkout sign. The moment right after a good experience is when people are most willing.
- Receipts and invoices. Add a small code with "Enjoyed your visit? Leave us a review."
- Table tents for restaurants and cafés, next to the menu code.
- Takeout bags, packaging, and thank-you cards for product businesses.
- The back of your business card for trades and service businesses that work on site.
Stay inside Google's rules
Google's review policies are strict, and breaking them can get reviews removed. Two things to avoid:
- Don't offer anything in exchange for a review, such as discounts, free items, or contest entries.
- Don't filter who you ask. Sending only happy customers to Google and unhappy ones to a private form ("review gating") isn't allowed. Show the same code to everyone.
Asking every customer, politely and without strings attached, is fine and is exactly what the review link is for.
Common questions
Does the code expire?
No. A static code works as long as the review link does. A dynamic QRforLess code stays active as long as its short link is live. More in do QR codes expire?
Can I make one for multiple locations?
Yes. Each location has its own Business Profile and its own review link, so make one code per location and label them clearly.
